Mission and Purpose
Killick Coast North Seniors Co-operative (KCNseniors.coop) is a non-profit community service co-operative in development (to be incorporated in July 2024), where volunteers offer services to the public and to members helping them age well at home and in their communities. Located in Pouch Cove, NL, we will serve the communities in Bauline, Flatrock, and Pouch Cove.
Values
The development of KCNseniors.coop is based on the co-operative values and principles and following the Village Model of the Village to Village Network. We strive to “change the paradigm of aging”. We co-create a “jointly-owned and democratically-controlled” social enterprise valuing “self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity”. We aspire to overcome loneliness and isolation through building “a sense of community” and within a framework of gender equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and anti-racism.
Services
KCNseniors.coop will integrate and enhance existing family and community group connections and services. We strive to offer (click on services for a more detailed list of services):
Our volunteers will
- organize and facilitate
- health & wellness programs,
- educational programs and
- social activities for social members; and
- offer the following additional services for full members:
- help with chores and light repairs at home,
- provide access to vetted service providers,
- assist with transportation,
- conduct friendly visits,
- help with computer and other technology,
- support with pet care, and
- provide a one-stop contact.
